US citizens do not need a visa to visit Morocco for tourism stays of up to 90 days. You need a passport with at least six months of validity on the day you arrive and at least one blank page, and your passport is stamped on arrival. The same 90-day visa-free rule applies to citizens of Canada, the United Kingdom, the European Union, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and many other countries.

Who Can Visit Morocco Without a Visa?
Citizens of more than 70 countries can visit Morocco without a visa, most for up to 90 days. They include the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, all European Union countries, Australia, New Zealand and Japan. Check your nationality on Morocco’s official portal, acces-maroc.ma.
The AEVM Electronic Travel Authorization
Some nationalities that do not need a visa must still apply online for an electronic travel authorization, called the AEVM, before they fly. At the time of writing, travelers from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, the EU and Australia do not need one. Morocco updates this list from time to time, so confirm on acces-maroc.ma before you travel.
The Morocco eVisa
If your nationality does need a visa, you may be able to apply online through Morocco’s eVisa system instead of visiting a consulate. The eVisa is for a single entry and a stay of up to 30 days. You will usually need:
- A passport valid for at least six months
- Proof of accommodation, such as hotel bookings
- A return or onward flight ticket
- Proof that you can support yourself during your stay
Travelers who are not eligible for the eVisa apply at a Moroccan embassy or consulate. For official information, see the Moroccan consular portal.
Staying Longer Than 90 Days
To stay longer than 90 days, you must request an extension from the Moroccan police before your 90 days end. Do not overstay: according to the U.S. State Department, travelers who stay beyond 90 days without an extension must appear before a judge before they can leave, and may be fined.
Money and Customs
The Moroccan dirham is a closed currency. You cannot take dirhams out of Morocco, but you can change them back into dollars before you leave if you keep the receipts from changing money in Morocco. ATMs are easy to find in cities, and cards are accepted in most hotels and larger shops. Carry cash for markets, small cafes and tips.
