Honeymoon in Morocco vs Safari: Which Should You Choose?

Honeymoon-in-Morocco-vs-safari 2

A honeymoon in Morocco and a safari are both unforgettable, but they feel very different. Choose a safari if watching wildlife is the one thing you want from your trip. Choose Morocco if you want romance, culture, great food and privacy, with a night in the Sahara, in one trip.

This guide compares the two honestly, so you can decide which one fits the honeymoon you imagine.

Why a honeymoon in Morocco works

  • Romantic places to stay: Boutique riads with courtyards and rooftop terraces, and hotels chosen for comfort. Read more about Moroccan riads.
  • A night in the Sahara: A camel trek into the dunes at sunset, dinner at the camp and a sky full of stars. Our guide to the Moroccan Sahara explains what to expect.
  • Culture every day: Medinas, souks, palaces, gardens and food, from tagines to mint tea.
  • Variety in one trip: Imperial cities, the blue town of Chefchaouen, the High Atlas, the Sahara and the Atlantic coast.
  • Your pace, your privacy: A private driver and guide, and a vehicle used only by the two of you, so nobody sets your schedule but you.
  • Hammams and slow mornings: A traditional hammam is a good way to unwind after a long drive.

When you inquire, tell us it is your honeymoon so we can plan around it.

Where a safari honeymoon wins

A safari is the right choice for some couples, and it is worth being clear about when.

  • Wildlife: Watching big animals in the wild is something Morocco does not offer. If that is your dream, a safari is the way to do it.
  • Remote lodges: Bush lodges and tented camps put you in the middle of the landscape, far from towns.
  • A single focus: A safari trip is built around one experience, which suits couples who want exactly that.

If wildlife is the one thing you want, choose a safari. If you want culture, food, markets, scenery and a night under the Sahara stars, choose Morocco. Our guide to the best country to visit in Africa for the first time compares Morocco with the safari countries in more detail.
